events not showing in calendar widget (iPhone X with iOS 11.2)

Hi,

My iPhone X was recently upgraded to iOS 11.2 and right after that I noticed many times that the Calendar widget does not properly show upcoming events (please refer to snippet below).

Tapping on the calendar widget does nothing (i.e. it does not take me to the iOS Calendar app). The "Show less/Show more" area still works though but it does not solve the problem and the widget does not refresh at all.

The problem appears to be random and sporadic. Does anyone know what happened and how to solve it? Thanks!

Following on from the Weather Widget issue, must say haven't noticed problem with Cal Widget but then not paid much notice. Currently mine is blank (as per yours) because the next event is in a few days time, but that event is showing in the "Up Next" - so will wait and see what happens and will report back.

If you have events not showing for that particular day I would check that you have an "Alert" set and by when,

Not sure, but you could experiment with enabling "all-day" and see what happens. The other location is Settings/Notifications, but because you have "Up Next" think that's ok.

Not sure other than create a few test events with different settings (ie alerts) and see what gives - the Weather and Cal lack of updating might be linked and if so, again we need Apple to sort.

Just had the event that was set for this morning and I have to confirm it all appeared to work as expected - the event remained in "Up Next" until the day of the event when it moved to "Calendar" showing details and the time line, when the event time had past it the disappear from "Calendar".

While the above was happening my next future event has now appeared in "Up Next" which when tapped does open the Calendar App on that event. The only events that don't show are those from the Holiday Calendar, I have that selected in the Calendar App on both iPad and iPhone, but no holiday events appear in the Widgets - that's not like the iMac which does show holiday events along with the others set under the Home Calendar in the Today section of Notification Center - I've just put that down to iOS working a little different to macOS.

Sorry, can't think of anything else to add.

Further to my last post I’ve also just experienced a Calendar Widget update issue, the event was for 1Hrs this morning which was showing in “Up Next” until that time when it duly showed in Calendar for the Hrs after which it disappeared - because the event had past that’s what you would expect to happen. But while this was happening the “Up Next” didn’t update, it still showed that “past” event when in fact it should have been the next future event some 7 days time.

I also have an iPad Mini 2 setup similar to the iPhone so went and checked and that appears to display correctly, ie. no event now in Calendar Widget and the new future one now in the Up Next Widget.

No amount of scrolling or moving in/out of the Widget Screen made any difference, even turning off/on the WiFi to force the use of cellular for a while failed to update - last try was a Force Restart and this sorted (or unstuck things), but not sure yet how long that will last.

So like with the Weather Widget and some third party ones, it looks like certain devices are having issue with the Widget Screen updating - the iPhone X certainly seems more prone to this in my experience at the moment.

Whether “Up Next” would have eventually updated without the Force Restart I’m not sure (like the Weather and the third party do) but when/if it happens again will just leave and see.
