imovie not working

Hi, I copied imovie to a seagate external hard drive, now iMovie won't work, ie when I click it tries to open but can't. Any help would be appreciated

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

It might be that your external drive is formatted Fat 32 for Windows, in which case iMovie won't work on it. Right click on its icon and do a Get Info and check the format. If it is Fat 32 it needs to be reformatted to Mac OS Extended (journaled), that you can do with the Disc Utility app found in the Utilities folder on your Mac. Reformatting a disc erases all the data on it, so you need to remove iMovie and any other data you want to keep before you reformat.
