Two-factor authentication

Why am I constantly getting this two-factor authentication notification now in Settings on my MacBook Pro and all of our iPads all of a sudden? Even after selecting, "Not Now" it continues to pop up.... What is Apple trying to say? I have to do it or what? Why give the option to dismiss it if it is going to continue to pop up all the time?? Someone please explain this to me.....
