Filmstrip missing from photos 3 when editing live photos

My wife is unable to edit live photos on her desktop imac. The whole filmstrip which should allow her to choose a keyframe is missing. All her software is up to date, and it's a new iphone X. I am able edit similar live photos on my iMac without difficulty.
