Am overseas. While plugged into current adapter iPhone 6 screen froze then went black. Can I somehow recover from this?

that did the trick, had forgotten about this restart feature, fortunately my ancient iPad still worked so managed to do a chat with apple support, so glad apple is there for us whenever & wherever !

Try a reboot press the power button down &menu button hold both down until you see apple logo this can take 30 seconds.
