macos sierra will be installed on the disk stuck for over 2 hours

I've been trying to download High Sierra for about 2 hours now, yet the blue bar hasn't moved since initial start up time: https://i.imgur.com/vADGYyJ.png
I've read that it takes some time, but is it supposed to take this long?

UPDATE:

it has now been stuck for almost 14 hours, obviously too long. Any help is very appreciated

I have the exact same problem, with the blue loading bar stuck at the exact same place. Did you ever solve this problem?
