The Pismo didn't ship with a retail version MacOS9.0; and shipped with a required ROM build.
The full retail installer 9.1+ media CD could build the system per each supported hardware from
the disc, with later updates from servers. ~ However those bits may be found on other archives
than Apple server; some of their old software archive site URLs had changed so may be gone...
Been awhile since I last installed a stand-alone MacOS9.1 or later. With properly prepared HDD
and correct formatting, it is possible to copy a working boot-ready system from another mac or
from an archive. This isn't possible with later Mac OS X. {A drag-drop copy allows some latitude.}
And with an OS X machine, you may be able to extract MacOS9.x parts from original orphaned
media discs for use in other devices. Those parts can be used to restore & run original hardware.
A software utility by name of Pacifist had been great for partial re-installs from original media.
As it only works in OS X, (not sure if updated for latest X) it runs free indefinitely in demo-mode.
Because this area is outside usual suggestion, the recommendation is retail discs of the era, as
the original part numbered restore install CD media or DVD media would be rarer & cost; also
a resulting first supported system would not be able to use most later archival software.
For non-system games an example of some place to look for software may be here; providing
they have been orphaned, outside the realm of intellectual property rules. Some links will fail.
Sorry for not exactly answering your question with specific detailed clarity.
And I'm offline more than on; especially when online w/ local interruptions.
Best hunting when locating suitable software from reliable sources... and compatible hardware,
as to keep the vintage obsolete Mac functionally alive. Batteries may be rebuilt. Power adapters
replacement may be matched in output. You may be able to use a 'flash memory card' as an SSD.
Good luck & happy trails! 🙂
