lost mail icon on my dock
how do i get mail icon back on my dock?

Try searching the iPad to see if it has been moved to another folder. If not, then go to the App Store and you can download it again. You would have had to delete it for it to be missing. It is very possible that it was accidentally moved to another location. Once you locate it, you can move it to wherever you wish.
