I can't empty trash bin

Hi everybody,

I can't empty my iMac's trash bin. When I try to do it, it gives me an error message "you can't...etc etc...because "x" is in use".
In the trash bin, there is an old backup package from time machine, It seems that the erasing process gets stuck when it hit anything called "library" or any other system component, even if they are just an old copy of the actual working and essential component.

Thank you in advance for your help,
NP

You should never attempt to delete a TM backup via Finder, it will always get stuck in the Trash. This is coming from your TM disk. If you disconnect the TM disk it will no longer be in the Trash, but as soon as you reconnect it again, it will reappear. The easiest solution is to erase your TM disk and start over, if you can afford to lose the backups.
