Could not set up apple pay cash.

i had the same issue and this worked for me:

1. turn off icloud on iphone

2. turn off passcode from your iphone settings

3. restart your iphone

4. turn icloud back on

5. turn passcode back on

6. retry setting up apply pay cash

don't ask me why that combination worked but it did...

I see a couple of you guys were able to fix this just by reseting and restoring the device, but it did not work for me. I keep getting a message that says: "Apple Pay service is currently unavailable. Please try again later".

Any other ideas on how to fix this?

Yes, I am in California. Actually back in December it was working just fine. But then after I synced my phone with iTunes it stoped, and I have not been able to set it up again. I do have a Cash Card under my apple ID and it takes money if someone sends money through iMessages. But I can't send any because it says that I need to set it up, but when I try to do it all I get is the "Apple Pay service is currently unavailable. Please try again later" message.

For me, signing out of iCloud and back in worked. Tried resetting my phone and all other suggestions to this question and it didn’t help. Before resetting your phone, just try signing in and out of iCloud.

Same here, I have tried everything that has been suggested in the Apple discussion forums to fix the issue. Still does not allow me to add my CC# though. Would really like to use Apple Pay with my new iPhone 8plus. I am 98% sure that the mantra "It Just Works" no longer applies to Apple iOS any longer. 😟

😟 followed these steps and it didn't work for me. I don't know what is wrong with mine. I have tried all kinds of options. But thanks for the info.

We always have to restore our devices to fix stupid bugs like this. I’m so sick of this.

Same issue. I have tried all combinations of reset including what Apple support has walked me through and no luck. Currently waiting on a call back from my case dating back to December 😑
