That is expected behavior and the phone is working as designed. The iPhone will disconnect from wi-fi when it goes to sleep, within 20-30 seconds, if there is no active wi-fi download/upload. This will not occur if the iPhone is connected to power. This is a battery saving measure for the phone, and has operated in this manner since the first iPhone.

Thank you very much for your answer 😃, I just got the iphone 8 but this never happened to me with the previous ones, In that case, should it reconnect again when it is unlocked?
As soon as you open the phone, it will automatically reconnect.

Is this your home wi-fi? It should reconnect almost immediately after you open the iPhone screen.

Then that is a network issue, not an iPhone issue.
every time I lock my phone it disconnects from wifi
