Can I fully deactivate cellular on apple watch?

Hi,

I am considering to purchase the Apple Watch but it raised some questions for me:

my Apple watch (original) has significant battery issues during workouts. As I do cycling trips of more than 5 hours the watch struggles to keep up as the dies rather quickly.

As cellular will probably further drown battery life, can I fully deactivate it?
