Safari could not open Google pages because the server stopped responding

Hi,

After upgrading to High Sierra I started noticing that Safari failed to load certain Google pages like YouTube or Google search. It just gets stuck loading for a bit and then just shows the "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding". The thing is that if I refresh the page like 5 or 6 times or try to run the same URL or the same query in Chrome, Firefox or any other browser, it works.

I thought it was an issue with my setup so I just did a fresh install of macOS 10.13.2 but it's still happening. I tried removing the history, cache and everything from the browser but it's not solving anything. It's also not my internet connection because I tried both with WiFi and ethernet cable and it happens randomly in either connection.

Open system preferences > network , simultaneously open mail application > connection Doctor , small continuous circles are observed it means server is down .

Mac is connected to the network and showing green dot , and network utility tool has been removed , this is the way to check .

You have to wait till Mac is connected to the server as every network settings are ok .

After server issue is resolved , you will see green dots in the connection doctor .

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer or by using the developer’s uninstall instructions. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Tried it with another administrator account and, at least in the couple of minutes I was testing it, the issue was not there. But I don't understand how this is related to my account since I did a clean install of the OS this very morning and the only thing that I configured the same as my old setup was my iCloud account. What can I do to solve this? I did the Etrecheck report and no error was reported.

Seems like I found the... issue?

Hidden in some Reddit post from back in 2015 someone suggested to put IPv6 on local link only and this has been working so far (have been testing for half an hour now and no signs of the issue).

For everyone having this: Settings -> Network -> Advanced -> TCP/IP -> Configure IPv6 -> Local link only.

Dec 15, 2017 3:14 AM in response to tygb

The thing is that if I put it on "Automatically" Google pages stop working again. The only way to make it work and not have this issue is "Link-local only" option, at least for me.

I actually have the third-party sound application removed from login items, but the thing is that this issue was here before I installed any app on my system. Before opening the issue I did a full reinstall of macOS High Sierra and the issue was there right after doing the clean install.
