Why is the brightness changing on my iPhone 7?

You may have Auto Brightness turned on, it's a feature on the iPhone where it uses its ambient light sensor to adjust the brightness depending on the environment around you. It's turned on by default.


If you wish to turn it off:

On iOS 11, go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations

On iOS 10 or earlier, go to Settings > Display & Brightness
