How do I sync contacts between an ipod classic and a Mac running high Sierra? The Apple help suggests this option is not possible.

Under Contacts in the iPod menu of iTunes, there should be an option. The new version of iTunes is a mess but I think it still there. I don't use iTunes 12.7.x for anything because I think it is terrible for anything iPod related, I still use an iMac running 10.6.8 with iTunes 11.4 for iPods and general iTunes stuff.
Try the option to sync contacts first, if that doesn't work, I really don't know. iTunes is a mess.
