Airplay randomly kicking on

I have a Mac Mini that is hooked up HDMI to my Yamaha RX-1050 which I use to switch my tv. While watching a movie or video it will randomly kick out to Airplay. This then switches the input on the receiver to Airplay which kills the video out to my tv. I have to go back and forth multiple times to shut off the video player (VLC, Quicktime, etc.) and manually change it back to HDMI out on System preferences. I will start playing again and it will inadvertently kick back over to Airplay. I haven't found any settings on my receiver to disable it. Can I disable it on the Mac Mini?
