Tried to update to 10.13.2 Installation froze

Noticed from the App app that there was an upgrade to the mac os - 10.13.2 Shut things down and told it to run. The update got stuck at abut 85% after which the progress bar did not move. I just boot from my hard drive using its 10.13.1 and after a night of work am finally running. I don't know how to get the partial installation off my machine and wondered if others had this problem.

Thanks for help. 1) How exactly do I update 2) How do I get rid of that truncated installation

10.13.1 ---> 10.13.2

Yes. You cannot avoid it, I'm afraid, based on what information you have provided. If you don't have backups then be sure to remember to backup before any update or upgrade to the OS. Things don't usually go badly, but they can.
