iMessages on iMac do not sent, not delivered in red?

I have previously been sending iMessages from my iMac , however, recently when i try to send a message it appears in a green cloud (not blue) with the red "not delivered" written in the corner. There are no problems with my network that i am aware of as safari and everything else seems ok? I am hoping its a quick fix in the settings?
