Smart Keyboard stops working after connecting to new wifi network

For some time now, when I use the Smart Keyboard to enter the log-in credentials for a new wifi network, e.g. when travelling, after the iPad connects to the new wifi network, the Smart Keyboard stops working and I can no longer use it to type.

The only way to get the Smart Keyboard to work again, is to turn the iPad on and off again and let it connect itself to the new wifi network using the just-added details. Then I can use the Smart Keyboard to type.

This happens every time I connect to a new network.

Any one else have this problem or a solution? Or is this a bug?
