Sleep or shut down

Hello everyone. I just got my MacBook Pro and I'm interested in, should I shut down or sleep. what you suggest and why.

Do what you want. I shutdown because it is a through back to the days of rotational drives. I also shut down because I don't want to take the chance of inadvertent overheating when the computer is in my backpack.

Sleep when not using your Mac for a few hours.

Shut down when not using it for longer periods (e.g., overnight).

I have an SSD drive. I shut it down when traveling on a plane. Other than that, I just let it sleep.
