undo or save in Book project in Photo

I see earlier complaints about this topic and have run into the same. Spent hours creating a book and pressed "Clear placed photos" which ruined the book. Just wanted to remove the placed photos from the list below to see which photos weren't placed yet....

Is there a solution? At least a Save button so I have a status where I can go back to for future work?

Anything? Please help.
