Better support for Maps in Apple CarPlay

Just got a new 2018 Crv in Canada. Reading many reports of users not very happy with the Map app in the iPhone in re-guards to the Navigation. Are improvements coming for this app or will the Apple Team make available the Google Maps app? I Love my iPhone and I Love my Honda Crv. I just want to make my driving experience better. Any info would greatly by appreciated. Thanks in advance.
