Question: Keynote Crashed When Picking Custom Colors on Touch Bar

The Keynote on my MacBook Pro crashed every time when I tried to pick colors from the custom palette (or "Swatches") on Touch Bar. This happend to me in the macOS Sierra days and it reoccurs in the latest version of High Sierra and Keynote. Please help me out! Thank you!


Specs: MacBook Pro (Late 2016, 13'', 8G RAM, 512G, i5 Processor)

macOS 10.13.2

Keynote 7.3.1 (5249)

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2016, 4 TBT3), macOS High Sierra (10.13.2), null

There appears to be problems for some users with the touch bar, try the following work arounds in this order:


  • use the mouse until Apple provide an update that fixes the touchbar issues
  • delete Keynote, empty trash then re-instal from the Mac App Store
  • re-instate an earlier version from a backup; 7.3.0 - 7.2.0, 7.1.1
  • back up the hard drive then erase, then clean install Mac OS
