I have years worth of texts from my friend, not until a week ago... when I checked the texts thread... I can ONLY see my messages sent to the person but their texts are completely deleted. How can this happen? Can the other person delete my texts?

3.6 GB left, I'm looking at all my other texts from years ago and the full thread is there except for the one with my friend
Then restore your iPhone from your most recent backup. That should bring the messages back.
