Hi,
I'm currently experiencing a bug where sometimes my iPhone screen wouldn't rotate in any apps (like screen lock has been activate, but it's not). The only way to fix it is to lock the phone and unlock it. Then the bug will come again after a while, I can't find a way yet to reproduce it every time.
I already try to soft reset the phone, but the bug keep appearing.
Has anyone experience this kind of bug?

When the problem appears, it's really like the accelerometer doesn't work at all until I lock the phone and unlock it again. I could try watching a twitter video in landscape and see it not working and switch like to the message app to try the landscape keyboard or try to see my picture and rotate the screen, and it won't work until I lock and unlock it.
I might have found a solution tough. I enabled the screen rotation lock and have done a soft reset, then disabled it and again soft reset. No bugs for 24h now, the bug was very frequent like every 10-15 minutes. I hope it doesn't come back.

Exactely the same probleme here!
Suddenly screen just won’t rotate. Started about a month ago.
Accelerometer keeps working in compass at these times.
After restarting is fixed, but after a few hours or days (very unpredictable) starts again.
Inacceptable for a > 1000€ phone.
Please fix this!
Same issue. Please fix ios11!!! Had the iPhone since “the 3”...this is by far the biggest failure of an os release in the history of Apple! Orientation problems, message freezes every time you access it from Photos, the list goes on and on...FIX IT! $800 for and electric brick seems to be a rip-off!!
Samsung is starting to look real appealing...
One week without problems, it’s now back. I just soft reset again. I hope there will be an update fix for this, I’m tired of restoring my phone with new settings... when I got my iPhone X i started fresh from my 7 plus because of bugs. I don’t want to restore every 2 months!
I just started using my new IPhone X .Upsated it to latest IOS .First thing I did was to click some pictures .
But when I tried to see them in landscape mode ,pictures won’t rotate .The same thing happened to you tube videos .
I thing it is a bug .please resolve .
Exact same issue here, it’s very frustrating. The toggling of the rotation lock does not work for me. I need to restart the phone. It’s as though the accelerometer just stops working. For an $1150 premium device, this is entirely unacceptable!
Terrible!! IPhone X screen rotation, the freezing screen in messages, sending pictures even freezes and the screen resolution is not right on do many things. This phone cost me more than a grand since I traded my iPhone 7 plus for it. I have the latest update and it is a joke!! My car stereo is having issues now too.

This worked for me after I just experienced the same issue for the first time.
I’m on an iPhone 6s with iOS 11.2.2. Couldn’t get anything to orient properly unless I locked the orientation to portrait. Recycling power didn’t help. Then I tried this work around of locking orientation and doing soft reset and immediately unlocking orientation and doing another reset.
I just noticed a new iOS update is available so will apply that and hope the problem doesn’t reappear.
You do realize that the iphone X is basically just a Beta Project. there will be problems, this a new type of iphone. That's why its smart to wait a year for New/same models to exceed the current.
Advice: Go get the Iphone 8 plus. Trust me!
I have the same problem with my brand new iphone X but only on the Main / Home screen. All other apps like photos, mails, etc are working perfectly either landscape or portait. The main screen cannot be turned to landscape like does on my "old" iphone 6plus
Yep, same issue even on a replacement iPhone X after my first one stopped working.. It commonly happens in messages, where the screen will "get stuck" in horizontal orientation until closing and re-opening messages.. It also occurs roughly 20% of the time when taking photos - they come through as if they were taken sideways or upside down. This has also happened on both iPhone X's I've had running the latest versions of iOS.
Agree it is pretty unacceptable and frustrating.
I have the same issue with iPhone X. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Restart or enabling/disabling Portrait Orientation Lock in the control center helps. Foto gallery or video playback is usually affected. Is there any way to exclude a faulty accelerometer?
Yes when the problem occur, try opening the compas app, and go to the level, and see that there the accelerometer works.
We have to find a manipulation where we can reproduce the bug each time, like this we can submit it to Apple.
Today I had the bug again. Enabling/disabling portrait orientation lock did not help this time. So I called Apple support. They are currently not aware of this problem. However they did a remote hardware check. All sensors were ok. Afterwards they reinstalled the operating system via iTunes. I will observe it the next days. Maybe the OS reinstallation fixed the issue...maybe not.
