How can I remove applications that send me elsewhere when I browse the net?
Today the window with a chat I was having with my mobile company disappeared from my screen twice. I called what I thought was Apple support and I got a very pushy gentlemen that was trying to sell me a subscription.
Can anyone help please?

You got hit by a ransomware scam site. Don’t call or do anything that they may demand of you.
Hit the keys Option-Command-Escape to force quit your browser. Then re open your browser while holding down the shift key. Your browser will then open normally and the “alien” will be gone.
If you return to the site you were working with when the alien appeared, you may get it again. If you do, just repeat the procedure to get rid of it and don’t visit that site again.
