Is it possible to have a wireless monitor connected to a MBP and use it in clamshell mode?

We have a MacBook Pro 2011 that my wife uses for voiceover recordings. I am building her a sound studio and want to keep the MBP in a separate room preferably in clamshell mode, because I am trying to minimize the number of holes in the walls to eliminate the potential for sound to enter the room. Is it possible to connect a wireless monitor to a MBP and have it in a clamshell mode?
