why does every web site appear as a document

When I click on an e-mail or a specific website, the page appears as a document in "Pages"...it is NOT but it LOOKS like it. Why is this happening??? It's been a month or so and it is ANNOYING. Also NONE of the links in these "documents" work and most times I cannot get to where I want to go on the Internet. Is this some recent update that Apple has done in Lion? Or Sierra? Or whatever the **** is on my Mac????
