High sierra upgrade time

I have a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro and the high sierra takes ~12 hours?

MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

Installing? Downloading? Either one depends on a variety of factors including your ISP's actual speed and any hardware modifications you may have made.


On a stock MBP of that vintage, the installation itself finishes in a little over an hour. That doesn't include the download.

What are you basing 12 hours ON?

What your ISP is saying to download ?

Download plus install ?

Are you factoring in trying to do it every level from where your at ie maybe SnowLeopard etc - through High Sierra ?


I have a 2009 MB, with limited ram, and I did it yesterday while killing time, and it actually went faster than expected because I switched from a 2.4Ghz to a 5Ghz router for the download.
