10.13.2 (17C88)

Since upgrading to 10.13.2 (17C88) my iMac slows down after some time, the spinning wheel continues to spin until the whole machine is hanging. After restart everything is first alright but after a while it slows down again. First aid did not help either.

Open Activity Monitor and see if you have UserEventAgent using lots of CPU and Memory.

There have been several posts about it. Not sure if there is any suitable solution.

If you don't have that process running out of control,

Try starting in Safe Mode and then restart normally. Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

If not, it may be some software that is not compatible with the new update.

The UserEventAgent looks normal and I am running the machine now in the SafeMode.

The system seems to work more stable, but there seem to be some odd display delays happening. When I move the curser over the dock, the items are coming up wave like.

Is this normal in safe mode?

Yes. Safe Mode disables accelerated graphics.
