Brothers printer error message says printer may be out of ink but I just put in new cartridges. Also, will not allow me to connect with utility

Brothers printer 495CW will not print. Say printer may be out of ink but cartridges are full. Also will not allow me to open utilities.

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.0.4
