Apple Watch app is no longer working after 11.2 update on iPhone X

After I updated my iPhone X to 11.2 the Apple Watch app stopped working. Whenever I try to open the app the screen goes black and then closes. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and even resetting the device but still does not work. Any suggestions?
