Icon for 'find my iphone'

Find My iPhone App cannot be downloaded from the App store, or anywhere for that matter, so its unclear what you downloaded. When you find it in the App Store, the most you can do is tap on the "open" button.

When you say you go into iCloud, where exactly is this? What exactly are you doing?

If you have a stock installation of iOS, Find My iPhone is placed in a folder called "Extras".

You can use the spotlight search by swiping down from the middle of the screen to try to find it. If its in a folder it will tell you which one.

The Find My iPhone app is one of the pre-installed apps that comes on the iPhone and is not supposed to be able to be deleted. Have you tried using search on the phone to see if that shows it?
