iMessage: Conversations out of Order Within an iMessage Conversation

I had to word my question this way to make my issue clear. There are many older posts about the order of entire iMessage conversations being out of chronological order (older iMessage threads appearing above newer ones). My issue is that replies to messages within a single conversation are out of order.

For instance, several times I have messaged a contact and their reply appears above my message within the iMessage conversation. In the conversation below at 10:17A I asked Mike a question. He replied “Just finished breakfast...” to which I replied “11:45 at Starbucks”. He replied “Sure”, but it appears in the message thread as if he said “Sure” before I asked “11:45 at Starbucks”

This has only started happening since I upgraded to iOS 11.2

I am having this EXACT same issue, and have not been able to resolve it. I've tried turning iMessage on/off, have restarted my phone several times, have signed in/out several times, and I updated to iOS 11.2.1 this morning.

It is happening across multiple text threads. I send a message, it is received and marked as read. Their response comes through, and is placed ABOVE my last message, making the thread completely out of order. I've missed several text responses due to this issue. They come through, I don't see them in the correct order, but it still notifies the other person that I've read their message.

Any new updates on how to resolve this issue?
