iphone iOS won't update

I am trying to update my iphone using iTunes. Itunes says my disk does not have enough space. It appears to be trying to back up my phone to my computer before it updates. Is there a way to get around this?

iPhone 7, iOS 10.1.1

KT,

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately for me, i don't have the space. I will have to start erasing software to get the additional space required. Any other options? I would imagine there is a way to have iTunes back up the phone to the interwebs instead of the local?

No. There isn't a way to have iTunes back it up to the cloud. You could just use iCloud backup, provided you have enough space available in iCloud, and update over the air directly from the phone instead.

Hi

Go to iCloud make sure iCloud back up is on Then backup now over your wifi

The settings -general -about software update To ios 11.2 over wifi

I haven't used my pc For 3 years for backup all done over wifi

When you charge an iphone / ipad it automatically backs up to iCloud Over your wifi.

Later go to i books download ios 11 user guide &iPhone 7 guide both are free.

Cheers
