Unresponsive touch imessge since 11.2 update

I updated my phone with the software update 11.2 and it has been not operating properly since. The imessage blue arrow is unresponsive and messages are stuck. It does not respond to touch for imessage and a blue faded square pops up with "edit" or "cancel". How can I correct this issue? I have spent hours on the phone with apple support for the last 3 days. As of last night at 11:00 while on the phone with a senior advisor it appeared to finally be fixed. This morning the same issue are there again.
