Move SMS/iMessages to new iPhone

Hello,

I have an old iPhone 6s with years of iMessage and SMS messages on it. I also recently purchased an iPhone 8. Is there any way to move old messages (some or all) to the new phone without wiping out the messages already on the new phone?

Thank you!

As of right now, your only option to migrate those Messages to your new iPhone is to restore from your old iPhone's iCloud or iTunes backup. To your point this will replace your iPhone's existing Messages data with your previous iPhone's Messages.

There isn't a supported way to "export" messages data from the Messages app, but if you spend a few minutes searching on Google, you'll find there is a bunch of third party software out there that could probably help you accomplish what you're trying to do.
