Question: Dad's Mac Book Photos

Trying to do tech support for my old mac book, now in Dad's possession.

Mid 2009, Running 10.10.5 (Yosemite (Yes, I know I should have upgraded them before!)

Problem is he is trying to add a photo to an email. He says he used to be able to click the paperclip & attach from the "pictures" shortcut in finder. Now it just shows "Photos Library" as an icon.

On my Mac running High Sierra, the shortcut is "photos" in media. I can't see a way of making that appear on Dad's finder (via finder preferences).

Any suggestions?
I wonder about updating to High Sierra but need to back it up first (sigh).

that's the problem - it's not there & I can't work out how to show it. He has Favourites, devices & tags - that's it, & no other options in preferences. Movies & Music are in the "favourites" section - there is no media section.
