I have a 2017 MacBook Pro and it will not connect to my Sandisk USB card reader or my Cannon EOS Rebel T5i. What should I do?

When I plug my SanDisk into my Mac with a card in it the Mac is not recognizing the disk and picking it up. Also, when I plug my camera into the computer it is also not recognizing it.
