hotspot connectivity for Apple TV

Can I use the hotspot on my phone to connect my Apple TV? Or does it need a normal wifi connection?

Apple TV 4K, iOS 11.1.2, iPhone 7

Be aware that your carrier will throttle the connection once a certain threshold is reached and if using this as a longterm solution it would be against their fair usage policy. It would be best to ultimately have a home network/internet connection.

The Apple TV should be able to find your phone's hotspot just fine. It's just a Wifi network like any other to the Apple TV.
