No Sound from Eyetv

I have a Late 2014 Mac Mini which is now running OS X 10.13.2.

I have EyeTV 3.6.9 (7522) installed but find that there is no sound from either live tv or recordings. Previous to upgrading to High Sierra and this version of Eyetv I had no problems with sound.

I do have sound from other programs such as iTunes.

I have raised an issue with Geniatech but have not had anything useful from them.

In my own investigations I decided to create a guest user on my Mac Mini and once I had set up EyeTV on it I found that there was sound.

Can anyone advise me about what might be the problem as I have been blaming EyeTV 3.6.9 (7522) as being incompatible with OS X 10.13.2? Obviously it is something to do with the main user setup on my Mac Mini but I don't know where to go from here.

Many Thanks

See if it will work in the Safe Mode in your normal account.

Safe Mode - About El Capitan
also Sierra

Safe Mode Startup – El Capitan. also Sierra

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

I tried deleting all the startup items from my main user to see if that would make a difference but it didn't.

What I've decided to do is replace my main user with a new user and so far i've been able to get EyeTV working successfully but I now need to transfer all the files belonging to the old main user to the new user.

I've tried changing the ownership of the documents folder to the new user but that doesn't seem to have worked.

Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.

In the top bar of EyeTV, select 'audio' & drag down to 'Audio Output,' & verify the output source is what you want. Sometimes, in my experience, when I do run an update or such, the audio output channel gets bumped to another setting. Often, my sound output for Bose Companion 5 is bumped to internal speaker, or other output that is not hooked up. Verify it is currently the setting for your desired sound output.
