Apple software update for windows says i still need to update itunes after updating

For some reason when I check the apple software update on my computer it says itunes should be updated. However when i do that it keeps coming back with the same thing. When I check itunes it says it is fully updated and I never get an error message from the software update tool. It always says it was installed but then when it checks again it shows the update I just did. I have uninstalled itunes and just about everything else a couple times and still the same thing happens.
