my nephew’s ipod 5th gen won’t update his current apps without a credit card. this happened after a battery charge and he didn’t need a credit card until he made a actual purchase(on a $0 balance)before. anybody else see this issue b4/any way to fix

iPod 5th Gen App Store won’t do “free” updates on currently downloaded apps without credit card info filled. Information was deleted so there isn’t a credit card there and he hasn’t made any purchases so iPod is requiring him to put in a credit card just so that he can update the “free” apps he already has

We tried, unfortunately it still wouldn’t cooperate. In the past he had made purchases from time to time, but a credit card was used then to fix it, and all that info was cleared when battery was charged+he hasn’t made any purchase since(no $ balance or credit info)so this is annoying. Figured I’d see if there was anybody who had to deal with this/a similar issue before. Will be trying to figure this out
