Cannot click anything after waking from sleep

I have an 11-inch Macbook air, early 2015 model.

High sierra 10.13.2

Since recently updating my mac, when it wakes from sleep, the screen and windows are visible but nothing is clickable, some of the windows can be moved around but mostly everything is just inactive.

Then I have to click ESC, which takes me to the login screen where I can login, after this everything is fixed. It is obviously very minor but it happens every time and can be extremely frustrating.

Hello, Bananaramabobana.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

It's my understanding that you're unable to click on anything after your MacBook Air wakes from sleep mode. I understand how that could be frustrating and I may be able to help. I would start by doing an SMC reset, you can use this article as a guide: How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac Then test to see if the issue still happens. If it does, then create a test user account and safe mode to help narrow it down:

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!
