While using the browser I get offers of $1000 gift certificates from Walmart and no way to end them.

That's true. There's probably no way to end them, except to not go to the sites that produce this trafe. Have you ever installed a downloaded profile from a website? You can check by going to Settings/General and looking for the heading Profiles. If it isn't there you are "clean," if it is open it and delete any profiles you see that do not look legitimate. BTW, legitimate profiles will be from your employer, and, if you are an Apple Beta tester, signed by Apple. There should be no other profiles than these.
