Itunes Ghosts

When I transfer audiobooks from itunes to my ipod by dragging, the ghosts of previous books that have expired

also transfer. Also, overdrive won't transfer all of an audiobook to my ipod and repeated attempts to transfer missing parts fail. Suggestions on how to fix these problems would be appreciated. Thank you.
