Portrait mode depth map issues in iCloud Photo Library

I enjoy the fact that portrait mode photos taken with iOS 11 can have the depth effect adjusted in editing on the iPhone; however, I noticed when those same photos are uploaded to iCloud Photo Library (via PhotoStream), that the the depth map in Photos on a Mac and and iPad Pro (when switched on in editing on those devices) are completely different than what shows on the phone. What looks like a natural depth map and blur on the phone turns into a corrupted depth map on iCloud Photo Library pictures where the blur is completely wrong. This applies also to portrait mode photos taken with an iPhone 7 Plus with an early version of iOS 11.

Is anyone else seeing the same thing and is there a fix?

This issue appears to apply to portrait mode pictures taken with both an iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 10. All pictures were uploaded to iCloud Photo Library and viewed with Photos on Mac OS 10.13.2 and an iPad Pro 2017 using iOS 11.1.2.
