Mac HDMI output to tv produces green screen

Hi Folks

I've tried connecting Mac to my television via HDMI cable and consistently getting a green screen.

In an effort to address this issue I have:

  • Changed between Mac Mini (2012) and MBP 2015 - get exactly the same issue
  • Done a clean install on the Mac Mini
  • Changed the HDMI cable
  • Changed out the tv to brand new Hisense 65" 4k HD

I'm still getting the same issue of movies going green when on full screen and am able to replicate this across Netflix/movies on an external HD and have no idea why.

Best thing I can find from research is it's some kind of issue with handshake, but don't know how to address.

Please help!

I have the same problem with external fullscreen via HDMI. Goes green after a second or two.

But it's not consistent. It happens with NetFlix in Safari. And with QuickTime playback.

But YouTube in Safari is OK. Also NetFlix in Chrome is OK.

With the Mac Mini, when it's connected, go to System Preferences > Displays and make sure AirPlay Display is Off and there is only one display and its Resolution is set to "Default for display".

Have you tried different HDMI inputs on the TV?

Does it happen with movies played from iTunes?

I'm guessing it could be the media player your using, what apps do you use for playing video?
