How to see current wifi status , i.e it is connected to internet or not in high Sierra

I have been using Mac since not more then 1-2 months , but 1 thing which really annoys me is that I am not able to see quickly if my wifi is connected to Internet , In windows if you are not connected to internet with wifi you get a small x on wifi signals. I am sure there must be something like that on Mac but till now I wasn't able to find these settings. Can anyone please throw some light on it?
