iPad iOS 11.2 gmail mobile site keyboard problems

I just installed iOS 11.2 on iPad Air model A1474. I use gmail, the mobile site (Safari) on this device, not the gmail app. After installing the iOS update, the gmail keyboard obscures the composition area of the email I’m writing. I can swipe up briefly to see what I’m typing, but as soon as I start typing again, the composition area gets hidden by the keyboard. This did not happen before iOS 11.2 (The keyboard stayed below the composition area). I’m in landscape orientation. Thanks for any suggestions.
